UGS alumni meeting in Kyiv!

On September 14, we had the pleasure of meeting UGS alumni in Ukraine, young leaders who pursued their studies abroad and have since returned home to apply their knowledge and experience. Whether by launching startups, taking on impactful roles in journalism, finance, or public service, they are now helping shape Ukraine’s future.

We were joined by:

  • Tetiana Torchylo (UGS ’17, Duke Kunshan University ’24) – Investment banking professional advising global tech companies and supporting founders through M&A and capital raising.
  • Anastasiia Malenko (UGS ’18, Stanford University ’23) – Breaking News Correspondent with Reuters in Kyiv.
  • Oleksii Antoniuk (UGS ’19, Yale University ’24) – Defense cooperation advisor to the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine and UGS mentor.

Over dinner with Vira Shyshkina, UGS Repatriation Program Manager, the alumni shared their perspectives on supporting students who are returning to Ukraine and brainstormed ideas for the program’s future growth. The conversation left us inspired by their vision, energy, and dedication to building opportunities back home.
