Our 10–year reunion in Lviv

UGS had a special 10-year reunion at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv. 30+ UGS finalists and community members gathered to kick off the series of UGS’s 10-year celebration. We were happy to do it in Ukraine, reminding ourselves and our partners where the organization is rooted. Lviv was also a deliberate choice, as we are looking to expand our partnership with UCU, one of the top private universities in Ukraine.

That said, this time we were joined by Ivan Petrenko, Executive Director of UCU Ideas Lab, who talked about innovations and startups – a topic close to many of our finalists, and Dmytro Sherengovsky, Vice-Rector for External Relations and Public Service of UCU, who did an exercise of shaping the role of a Ukrainian abroad with our students.

Another big success was Antonina Zakorchemna’s open interview. Tonia (UGS’ ’16, Fryeburg ’19, Dartmouth ’24) is working on her Defense Tech startup in Kyiv. She was interviewed by Vlada Samchuk (UGS ‘25) and shared her story of studies, passion for math and engineering, and her journey to Kyiv and owning her business.

We thank everyone who is part of our community, which has been growing every day for the last 10 years. Many more to come!
